Home Remodeling, Friends and Family Make the World Go Round

I wanted to take just a quick little minute here to say thank you to all of my family and friends who have helped demolish, scrape, improve, paint and install stuff. That's right, thank you for the muscle, the smashing of sledge hammers through walls and the pry-bars used to pull up all of my old hardwood floor. I couldn't have done it without you! I had help from so many people, ranging in age from 5 years old to 60 years old! So [...]

Whitewashing a Brick Fireplace: So Easy a 5 Year Old Could Do It (And Did!)

I am so very excited to share this little project with you guys because I am so seriously proud of my little girl. Talk about a born to DIY chick! She saw me prepping the fireplace for this project and she immediately wanted in, so here we go! It's not that absolutely hated the fireplace...it's that I complete loathed it! Red brick and a fairly modern looking mantle just aren't my thing. I know once my hardwood floors go in, this is going to [...]

Removing Popcorn Ceilings

One of the first things I knew I wanted to tackle on this house was the popcorn texture on the ceilings throughout the house. Seriously folks, what the heck were they thinking? Who thought popcorn ceilings were cool? Oh ya....the 80's did. This stuff is bad news for home owners. Popcorn ceilings darken rooms, add shadows, collect cobwebs and dust like you wouldn't believe, and are pretty much all around anything but pleasant to have around. And hey, you have the added joy of [...]

How many times can you walk into a home improvement job and get that smooth sailing, easy going project from start to finish? Hardly ever, am I right? Well, it happened here. We removed wallpaper from the dining room successfully and I am happy to report it was a job so easy, even my 5 year old could do it. In fact, she did do it! This post contains affiliate links. For more information, see my disclosures here. So, first, let me just say, [...]

Water Damaged Subfloor Catastrophe and Replacement

Hello glitter bugs! So I'm about to get real up in here today because this week has had me in tears. Stress? Yes, some, but also, I seemed to have fallen through my kitchen floor. Ouch! Let me tell you folks, it doesn't sound like it would be that bad, we're only talking a few feet right? Yes, but the shock of it happening, the muscles used to quickly pull myself out realizing my leg was shrouded in darkness and possibly spiders and the [...]

We Bought a House!

Can I just say...aaaahhhhhhh It's finally here. We bought a house! That's right folks, we've closed the deal, signed the dotted line and little miss Kira and I are the proud owners of our first home. We’re Buying A House!

I can barely contain my excitement over this but two weeks ago I put in an offer on a house that I fell in love with and I'm going just a little crazy waiting until closing date. I figure why not spend my time blogging and sharing our progress on here to help pass the time. Plus, I fully intended to blog our projects anyway once we start renovations so might as well get a head-start. I know, I know, a million things could [...]
